Mobile phones will double within the next decade. It may be hard to believe that there are already four hundred and fifty billion Smartphone users throughout the world. That is a lot of users and a heavy load on our wireless infrastructure. Yet that number will double if not triple within the next three to five years. The low price of these mobile phones and the popularity of internet wireless devices are fueling the inflation. The number of users grows weekly and there seems to be no end. With the introduction of brands like Apple and Motorola’s phones, the popularity is just beginning. Other makers have new phone in the works that will eventually supersede Apple and Droid. These phones will run on the new more sleek wireless networks.

In another 4 years we will start to see mobile devices with internet connectivity break the one billion user barrier. Keep in mind not all smartphones around the world have wireless connectivity to surf the web. Computers were the first to do it and now the technology has found its way into mobile phones. One day our cellular phones will replace the current notebook and laptop. With the introduction of the Apple Phone, there has been an explosion of users purchasing slim mobile phones to surf the web. With social networking becoming mainstream, wireless devices not only fuel the growing social networks, but add a new twist to how social networks interface with our everyday lives. It may be true to say that social networking has actually fueled a growing trend in smartphone usage.

Yet where social networking has been a growing trend in our personal lives, smartphones also have made a significant dent in our business lives. With email on the fly from anywhere in the world to appointment features that work with global time, smartphones have become a virtual secretary for most business men on the go. These mobile phones are reshaping our lives and future.

Virtually anything you can think of can be bought for your wireless phone. You can download most phone applications for free or have them programmed for you. You can basically configure your smartphone to practically do anything your computer can do. Yet these mobile phones do not stop there, they have integrated themselves so deeply into our everyday lives, you can easily say they have surpassed our laptops and computers. Can your computer turn itself into a musical instrument? Can it tell you if a wall is level? Can it calculate your speed driving down the road and then tell you exactly how long it will take for you to reach your destination? Can it connect you instantly with anyone in the world through simple SMS text No? Well your smartphone may well be able to do this and a whole lot more.

If you have not gotten yourself into a smart mobile phone, I hope I have convinced you that a smartphone is not just for business anymore. They are for anyone and everyone. Just a quick example of how a smartphone can improve a lifestyle. Smartphones have become so sophisticated that they are now being developed to take your vital readings. Yes, you heard me right. Soon these devices may be able to take heart readings and blood pressure readings. One day all your doctor will need to do is pull out his or her cell phone to take your vitual readings, send over a prescription and then send you a text message (SMS) a few days later for you to review your medical results.

There are a lot of website out there that talk about hacking mobile phones. Unless you know a lot about it, then I don’t recommend doing it. Keep in mind if you decide to hack your phone, you will void any warranty. Also you have the potential of damaging your phone beyond repair. Hacking a phone is like over clocking a computer, you run the chance of making it unusable. Those that do put out the hacking information do not test their results on all the software versions out there, nor do they understand what other applications you have on your phone. One  hack could potentially break all your other downloaded apps. It is a gamble and not a very good one if you are using your phone for mission critical things liker running your business or critical communication. If your phone is out of commission, then so is your business.

What Do You Do With An Old Mobile Phone?

Now what do you do if you have an older phone and want to upgrade to one of the newer models with all the bells and whistles? Do you throw it away? Do you give it to a family member? Donate it to a worthy cause? If you don’t plan to give it to a family member or friend, then the best thing to do is donate it to a worthy cause. There are a number of charities and organization that will gladly take your old phone as a donation. The one thing you never want to do is throw away an old phone. They can make the land toxic, affect wildlife and affect the environment we live in.
